    Come to this interactive and fun workshop to explore your money values and habits, learn how to create manageable financial goals and create a Spending Plan which will set you on the path to meeting your goals!

    This class is open to only MD PROMISE participants and their families.  MD PROMISE provides services at no-cost to youth ages 14-16 who are receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits and their families.  The goal of these services is to help youth and their families get an education or training, find work, and access other resources to reach their goals.

    This workshop will explore common and not-so-common ways to maximizing your spending plan so you can "pump up your piggy bank" with savings.


    By the end of this class, you will:
    • Know the pros and cons of various savings tools (from stashing the cash at home to savings bonds and bank deposit accounts)
    • Understand the distinction between "spending less" and "saving," and
    • Explore the wonders of compound interest.
    • Learn about the new ABLE Accounts so you can build savings without losing eligibility for SSI and other important benefits like healthcare.
